1- To develop among nations friendly relations based on mutual respect for the principle of equal rights of peoples and their right to self-determination.
2- To achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, public health, environmental, educational, cultural or humanitarian character and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction of race, sex, language or religion.
3- To work actively with the United Nations (UN) in various ways and participate in their programs.
4- To reinforce cooperation with member states of the United Nations, other NGOs and various structures in the world, in all areas of activity of the United Nations. The purpose is to enhance the development of the implementation of the internationally agreed goals and promote dialogue in order to find effective ways for supporting in the general interest and welfare of all for a better world in peace and justice.
The need to strengthen relations NGO / The UN pointed out in various documents, especially in the Millennium Declaration in September 2000. The commitment of Member States to ensure greater possibility of NGOs was reaffirmed in the final Summit Document in 2005.The consultative status of the United Nations is an accreditation framework that benefits both the United Nations and NGOs.
As noted by resolution 1996/31:
“…Consultative arrangements are to be made, on the one hand, for the purpose of enabling the Council or one of its bodies to secure expert information or advice from organizations having special competence in the subjects for which consultative arrangements are made, and, on the other hand, to enable international, regional, sub-regional and national organizations that represent important elements of public opinion to express their views.” – ECOSOC resolution 1996/31, part II, paragraph 20
5- To enable youth to interact on current events in the world.
6. The association is a non-governmental organization which seeks to build a structure similar to that of the United Nations in providing opportunities for young people worldwide to express themselves.
A) Organize and participate in: events, meetings, round tables and discussions in various parts of the world and the United Nations throughout the year to enhance dialogue and mutual understanding on various issues.
»» Identify the challenges, establish the standards, provide ideas and policy suggestions and also concrete recommendations on various international issues.
»» Broadcast information, awareness, educational development, the promotion of UN policies for the general interest in consultation with Member States, mounting joint operational projects and services contribution and the expertise of the United Nations.
»» Attend conferences and international events and submit written and oral statements
“Written statements relevant to the work of the Council may be submitted by organizations in general consultative status and special consultative status on subjects in which these organizations have a special competence. Such statements shall be circulated by the Secretary General of the United Nations to the members of the Council …” – ECOSOC resolution 1996/31, part IV, paragraph 30
»» Meet official government delegations and other representatives of NGOs. »» Share lessons learned and highlight successful practices worldwide.
B) Must act in accordance with the following principles:
»» The association is based on the principle of the sovereign equality of all Member States of the United Nations.
»» Members of the association, in order to ensure to all people, the rights and benefits resulting from membership shall fulfill in good faith the obligations that have been assumed under the present Charter.
BODIES
1. The principal organs of the Youth diplomatic association of the United Nations are as follow:
– The decision office (President, Secretary, Treasurer)
– The General Assembly of the association
– The Economic and Social Council
– The Education Council, science and culture
– The health and humanitarian Council
– The justice and human rights Council
– The youth and sports Council
– The peace, defense, and international security Council.
2. The subsidiary organs which seem necessary may be established in accordance with this Charter.
